Orange Smoothies

Orange Smoothies made from Oranges (not just ‘Orange’ in color!) are vitamin packed and tasty as well.

The other thing that makes them so popular is the fact that they are available for most of the year, perhaps not locally fresh but imported, or canned or just in the juice form.

These interesting and varied recipes include Coconut milk, Ginger Root, Vanilla and Bananas as well as other fruits.


Orange Smoothies and Health

There are many varieties of Oranges as well as what we may call ‘Orange type’ fruits such as Tangerines, Pomelos, Tangelos and Ugli Fruit.

There are blood oranges, Valencias and Navel oranges. The last one is considered to be the best for eating ‘out of the hand’ and the Valencia considered best for juicing.

The Valencia, for example, has 60 calories for a medium sized orange, with no fat or sodium. Potassium content is high and there is more than your daily requirement of Vitamin C. There is also a good supply of dietary fiber and, not surprisingly, 11 grams of sugar….Diabetics take note!

ORANGE BANANA CREAM SMOOTHIE

1/4 cup Orange juice.
1/4 cup Pineapple juice.
1 tbsp Coconut milk.
1/2 Banana.
1/4 tsp grated fresh Ginger root.
1/2 cup crushed ice or 2 small ice cubes.

Add all ingredients to blender and process until smooth..
Serves 1.

ORANGE FRUITY SMOOTHIE

1 medium Banana, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces.
1 ripe Peach, peeled, halved, pitted, and diced.
1 cup Raspberries.
1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed Orange juice.
3 ice cubes.

Combine all ingredients in blender and whip until smooth.
Serves 2

ORANGE PINEAPPLE GINGER SMOOTHIE

1/2 cup Orange juice.
1/4 cup Pineapple juice.
1/2 Banana.
1/4 plus teasp Ginger root – fresh, peeled, grated.
1/2 cup Crushed ice — or 2 small ice -cubes.

Blend all until smooth.

ORANGE SMOOTHIE

2 Oranges, peeled and sectioned.
1 frozen Banana, chunked.
1/4 cup Orange juice.
2 Tablespoon yogurt.
1 tsp. Vanilla Blend in blender until smooth.

Serves 2.

ORANGE VANILLA SMOOTHIE

6 oz Orange juice concentrate – frozen.
1 cup Milk.
1 cup Water.
1/4 cup Sugar.
1/2 teasp Vanilla.
10 Ice cubes.

Place all ingredients in a blender.
Cover and blend until smooth.
Serve immediately.
Serves 6.

1 medium Banana, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces.
