Unusual Smoothies

Unusual Smoothies are those that don’t really fit any of our other categories and are also a little bit, well, ‘unusual’.

Not what you would normally think of as smoothie material.

Ingredients such as Ginger, Coffee, Spinach (..yes it’s a Vegetable, but definitely strange for a Smoothie!), Pistachio Pudding, Figs, Flax and, would you believe, Cold Cocoa!

Be daring, go for it, try something unusual.

COFFEE BANANA SMOOTHIE

2 small Bananas, peeled, cut up, and frozen.
1-1/2 cups skim Milk.
1 8-ounce container low-fat Coffee Yogurt.
1/4 teaspoon ground Cinnamon.
Dash ground Nutmeg.
Banana slices (optional)
Fresh Mint (optional)

In a blender container combine frozen bananas, milk, yogurt,
cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Cover and blend till smooth.
To serve, pour into glasses.
If desired, garnish with fresh banana slices and mint.

GINGER TROPICAL SMOOTHIE

1/2 cup Orange juice.
1/4 cup Pineapple juice.
1/2 Banana.
1/4 to 1/2 tsp grated fresh Ginger root.
1/2 cup crushed ice, or 2 small ice cubes.

Add all ingredients to blender and process until smooth.
Serves 1.

MALTED DATE SMOOTHIE

1/2 cup pitted Dates.
1/2 cup non fat Milk.
3 tablespoons Malt powder.
1 1/2 cups non fat Vanilla frozen Yogurt.

Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
Serves 2.

PISTACHIO BANANA SMOOTHIE

1 container plain non fat Yogurt.
2-3 oz Pistachio instant pudding mix.
1 ripe Banana.
1/4 cup skim Milk.
Handful or more of crushed ice.

Put all ingredients into blender.
Blend until smoothie consistency is reached!

COLD COCOA SMOOTHIE

1 1/2 scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream.
1 1/2 cups Milk.
1/4 cup whipped Cream.
2 Tablesp. Instant hot Chocolate mix.
5 Chocolate Sandwich Cookies..crushed.

In a blender, combine all ingredients.
Blend until smooth.
Pour into a large, chilled glass.

FLAX SEED SMOOTHIE

1/2 a frozen Banana, peeled and cut into pieces.
1 cup of frozen Strawberries.
2 Tablesp. Flax seed meal.
1 cup low fat Vanilla Soy milk.

Put all the ingredients into a blender.
Puree until smooth.

FIG SMOOTHIE

2 frozen Bananas, peeled and chopped.
6 fresh Figs, cut into quarters.
3/4 cup of Milk.
3/4 cup of Orange Juice.

Put all the ingredients into a blender.
Cover and Puree until smooth.
Pour into glasses to serve.

SPINACH SMOOTHIE

1 Banana cut into pieces.
1 cup of Grapes.
1 (6 ounce) tub of Vanilla Yogurt.
1/2 an Apple…cored and chopped.
1 1/2 cups of fresh Spinach Leaves.

Put all the ingredients in a blender.
Cover and blend, but stopping frequently to ensure nothing sticks to the sides.
Pour into glasses and serve.

Now enjoy your very unusual smoothies…it’s been a daring adventure!
